Chita State Institute of Medicine wasestablished in 1953. Chita isthe administrative district of Zabaykalsky Krai.

In 1954 was composed the first annual plan of scientific work.

In 1958, the third hostel for students was built and in 1962 – the fourth. Students of the Institute has taken active part in building hostels.

From 1963 till 1973 material base of the Academy has been greatly improved. During these years academic departments of Hospital Surgery, Traumatology, Orthopedic Surgery, Military Surgery and Mental Disorder Studies have been created.

In 1974, was opened scientific laboratory for studying Kashin–Beck disease.

In 1995, Chita State Institute of Medicine was renamed to Chita State Academy of Medicine.

In 2002 was build new dental clinic, filled with modern equipment. Usually, students have practice there.

Today, Chita State Academy of Medicine is a modern educational institution, where computer-aided technologies are widely and effectively used while teaching students. Wide research work is being conducted at the Academy.

More than 2500 of students get education here in different directions in accordance with the State Educational Standard. Nowadays, Chita State Academy is the biggest educational research and methodology, diagnostic and treatment center of Eastern Siberia, Trans Baikal and the Far East. The Academy is dynamically developing and holds rightful place among higher educational establishments of the Russian Federation.

Chita State Academy of Medicine has a great academic staff: 292 lecturers, among of them there are 35 Professors and Doctors of Sciences, 157 Associate Professors and Doctors of Sciences and 6 full members and corresponding members of Russian and foreign academies. During the existence of Chita State Academy of Medicine, there have been studying around 20000 of physicians, the majority of the graduates have become brilliant specialists in medical field.

Accommodation:

Students are offered hostels. There are different types of fully stocked rooms in hostels for students. Boys and girls live separately on different floors. Students can live in triple- and twin- rooms. Bathrooms and kitchens for students are offered on the sharing basis.
