Chechen State University is located in Grozny city, Chechnya, Russia. The University was established in 1938.  Grozny is the capital city of the Chechen Republic, Russia. The city is located on the Sunzha River.

Chechen State University had a period of great development between 1970 and 1980. Regional scientific conferences were carried out at the campus.

Medical faculty was established in 1990. First academic building of the Medical Faculty was opened in 2006. From 1990 till 2002 there have been opened 16 departments. After reorganization, 3 departments have been closed. Material and technical resources depend on medical and preventive treatment facilities of the city. Currently, positive changes are observed. Students of Chechen State Medical University have practice at well-equipped hospitals. They can get undergraduate and postgraduate education at the Faculty of Medicine

In 1997, Medical Faculty was reorganized into Chechen State Medical University. In 1997, first students graduated from Chechen State Medical University.

In 2011, Chechen State University was reorganized into Federal State-Funded Educational Institution of Higher Professional Education “Chechen State University”.

Nowadays, 1019 students get education in the medical field. Chechen State Medical University closely collaborates with the Universities of Russia.

Faculty of Medicine is located in a new academic building. Clinical departments are located on the base of medical and preventive treatment facilities of Grozny city. The University constantly develops the quality of medical education. Academic staff of Chechen State Medical University consists of 86 lecturers, including 10 Doctors of Sciences, 2 Professors, 15 Candidates of Sciences and 2 Associate Professors, 16 Senior Professors and Teaching Assistants.
